Summit Heights United Methodist Church places an emphasis on helping others who have need. Members and friends of the Summit Heights family volunteer their time and resources to several local mission ministries to fulfill their desire to serve “the least of these” in our community. These ministries include: Lighthouse Ministries who ministers to the needs of children in the Newburgh area; Wesley House now in the Preston Hwy. area whose ministries include childcare, clothes warehouse and after-school program for children; Wesley Manor a senior adult facility where adults live in patio homes, an assisted-living area, a nursing home, and a new facility for Alzheimer patients; Portland Promise Center on Baird St. where children and youth ministries are prevalent as well as family ministries throughout the week; and Fern Creek Highview United Ministries, one of the 16 Louisville area ministries that cares for people’s need for food, utility assistance, and other financial needs, and an adult day care.
